Uzbekistan and Türkiye Discuss Pharmaceutical Price Regulation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Türkiye discussed mechanisms for regulating medicine prices, including the formation and revision of reference prices.

The meeting was held on 7 September 2026 during an official trip by an Uzbek delegation to Türkiye with the leadership of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency under the Ministry of Health (TİTCK).

The talks were attended by a team led by TİTCK President Hüseyin Çelik, representatives of Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, and members of the Appeals Council for the Revision of Reference Prices.

The council includes responsible representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection.

The sides exchanged experience in regulating the pharmaceutical sectors of the two countries, with particular attention to the procedures for establishing and revising reference prices for medicines.

Participants also reviewed mechanisms for setting reference prices, revising medicine costs, handling applications and appeals related to pricing, and organising the work of the Appeals Council.

The impact of pricing policies on the availability of medicines and public access to them was also discussed.

Following the meeting, representatives of the two countries exchanged views on improving mechanisms for establishing and revising reference prices, studying international experience and further developing cooperation between relevant organisations in Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

The meeting focused on practical experience-sharing in medicine price regulation and improving the reference pricing system.
