Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Pakistan are preparing a visit by an Uzbek government delegation and a business forum involving leading companies from both countries, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev said on his LinkedIn page.

Khodjaev discussed preparations for the upcoming visit with Pakistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu.

The planned visit will include a business forum bringing together leading companies from the two countries.

According to Khodjaev, Uzbekistan and Pakistan have significant untapped potential to expand trade and economic, investment and industrial cooperation. He identified converting existing opportunities into concrete projects, developing direct business contacts and improving the efficiency of trade routes as key priorities.

The sides also discussed expanding preferential trade between the two countries. Since 14 August, the relevant preferential regime has covered more than 80 product categories.

Transport connectivity was another focus of the talks. The sides discussed the possibility of establishing new transit corridors through Pakistan.

According to the deputy prime minister, such routes would reduce delivery times and logistics costs while expanding Uzbek companies’ access to South Asian markets.

The upcoming government delegation visit and business forum are expected to provide a platform for further strengthening direct business ties and discussing specific areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation.
