Uzbekistan and India to Expand Tourism Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and India have signed a tourism cooperation programme for 2026–2028, providing for expanded tourist exchanges, closer cooperation and new joint projects. The document was signed following high-level talks in the presence of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee said.

Under the programme, the two countries plan to expand tourist exchanges and develop cooperation in the tourism sector through new joint initiatives.

The agreements provide for the organisation of reciprocal cultural weeks, film festivals and other major tourism-related events. The sides also intend to launch new joint tourist routes.

Particular attention was given to the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan and India. The measure is expected to contribute to increased tourist flows between the two countries, a rise in mutual travel and further development of cooperation in tourism.
