Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to Expand Air Links

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to expand air connectivity between the two countries.

During a working visit to Kyrgyzstan, Chairman of Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov held talks with the management of Asman Airlines and Aero Nomad Airlines on the development of new air routes, joint tourism products and increasing two-way tourist flows.

One of the practical outcomes of the talks was an agreement with Aero Nomad Airlines to launch scheduled direct flights on the Bishkek–Tashkent–Bishkek route from 23 August. The service will operate twice a week. Participants in the meeting said the new route is expected to strengthen tourism and business ties between the two countries and increase passenger traffic.

During discussions with the management of Asman Airlines, the sides also considered the possibility of launching scheduled flights from Bishkek and Osh to Tashkent, as well as services to other cities in Uzbekistan with strong market demand. They agreed to jointly assess passenger demand and market needs to identify the most promising routes.

The participants noted that the geographic proximity of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, the rich historical and cultural heritage of both countries, and growing interest among international tourists in combined Central Asia itineraries create favourable conditions for expanding air services. Proposed destinations include routes linking Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Ferghana and Andijan with Bishkek, Osh and Issyk-Kul.

Representatives of the Kyrgyz airlines were also briefed on Uzbekistan's existing state support measures for foreign airlines launching new international routes.

The sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation with the tourism industry, expand engagement with Kyrgyz tour operators, and jointly promote Uzbekistan's tourism potential and the new air routes between the two countries.
