Uzbekistan and Georgia Discuss Joint Business Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Uzbek-Georgian Business Council held its regular meeting in Tbilisi on 1 July 2026, ahead of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Georgia.

Participants discussed prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, developing industrial cooperation, and implementing new investment projects.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Odilkhon Rustamov, the President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Giorgi Pertaia, and representatives of leading business circles from both countries.

During the meeting, primary attention was focused on strengthening direct ties between entrepreneurs, expanding mutual trade, and developing joint investment initiatives.

Participants noted positive dynamics in bilateral economic cooperation. While the volume of mutual trade stood at US$89 million in 2017, it reached US$267.6 million by the end of 2025. Uzbek exports to Georgia accounted for US$77.2 million of this total, while imports from Georgia amounted to US$190.4 million.

According to both parties, more effective utilization of the free trade regime and transport and logistics potential will make it possible to increase mutual trade turnover to US$1 billion in the future.

The meeting also reviewed opportunities for implementing joint projects in the pharmaceutical sector, electrical engineering and chemical industries, construction materials production, agricultural processing, textiles, winemaking, as well as in the fields of transport and logistics.

A separate part of the program featured B2B meetings, during which business representatives discussed promising projects, established new business contacts, and reached practical agreements.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their intention to intensify interaction between the business communities of Uzbekistan and Georgia, support joint investment projects, and consistently develop cooperation within the framework of the Uzbek-Georgian Business Council.
