Tashkent Tests Yutong E9 Electric Bus on Route 26
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tests are underway in Tashkent for the Yutong ZK6890BEVG (E9) electric bus, a compact nine-meter model produced by Chinese manufacturer Yutong. The company said testing of the vehicle in the Uzbek capital initially began earlier in the year.
Under a temporary transfer agreement between operator Toshshahartranskhizmat and Chinese company Yutong Holdco Co., the electric bus was entered into service on Route 26 connecting Majnuntol Mahalla and Alay Market on 12 August 2026. Operated by the Bus Park No. 1 branch, the trial run is scheduled to last one month.
During the operational trial, specialists are evaluating the vehicle's technical and performance characteristics under Tashkent urban conditions, passenger service convenience, and overall operational efficiency. Route 26 links inner city streets with central areas, requiring the maneuverability of nine-meter buses.
According to manufacturer data, the low-floor Yutong E9 is designed for narrow city streets and suburban routes. The vehicle measures just under 9 meters in length, 2.42 meters in width, and approximately 3.3 meters in height. The cabin accommodates 22 seated passengers, dedicated space for a wheelchair, and a total passenger capacity of up to 62. Passenger access is provided through two doors.
The bus is powered by an electric motor with a rated power of 160 kW and a peak output of up to 240 kW. It is equipped with a liquid-cooled 289 kWh battery and charges via a European-standard connector.
The vehicle features an independent air suspension with disc brakes on the front axle and a Dongfeng air suspension on the rear axle, fitted with 265/70R19.5 tires. The interior includes air conditioning and device charging ports.
The E9 belongs to Yutong's electric bus product line alongside larger models such as the E7S, E11PRO, E12, and E18PRO. Yutong maintains a representative office for the Uzbek market.
The model was initially presented in Tashkent in January 2026 and underwent a one-month trial on Route 76. Following favorable performance on high-density routes, further testing was conducted in other regions of the country. Data gathered from the current trial will be compiled to evaluate performance in Tashkent.
