Il-114-300 Completes Hot-Weather Tests in Bukhara
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Il-114-300 regional turboprop airliner has completed high-temperature testing in Uzbekistan at ambient air temperatures of up to +42 °C. The trial campaign was conducted in Bukhara by specialists from JSC Il, a subsidiary of Rostec's United Aircraft Corporation, as part of efforts to expand the aircraft's type certificate, Rostec reported.
During the program in Bukhara, specialists evaluated the performance of aircraft systems as well as takeoff and landing characteristics in hot climate conditions. In total, the Il-114-300 completed 22 flights, logging over 30 hours of total flight time.
Special attention was given to takeoff and landing performance. Specialists executed five rejected takeoffs, including runs using specially prepared brakes that simulated extreme brake disc wear.
The test results will be submitted to aviation authorities for evaluation and subsequent amendments to the aircraft's type certificate. According to Rostec, the data gathered in Bukhara will be analyzed alongside results from extreme cold-temperature trials previously conducted in Yakutia.
Following the completion of the trials, the test aircraft returned to Russia on a nonstop flight from Bukhara to the Gromov Flight Research Institute airfield in Zhukovsky, Moscow region.
Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov noted that high-temperature testing forms an essential part of expanding the Il-114-300 type certificate. He stated that the findings are intended to confirm the operational capability of the aircraft across a broader range of climatic conditions.
In the summer of 2026, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency issued a type certificate for the Il-114-300. Obtaining the document confirms the aircraft's compliance with airworthiness standards and technical specifications, allowing serial production to begin.
Serial production is planned at the Lukhovitsy Aviation Plant, where three serial aircraft are currently in various stages of assembly, according to Rostec.
The Il-114-300 is designed for regional air transport and operation across diverse climatic environments, ranging from arctic regions and Siberia to high-temperature regions. The aircraft is capable of operating from small airfields, including those with short runways.
The aircraft is powered by domestic TV7-117ST-01 engines developed by Rostec's United Engine Corporation and features domestic avionics and a digital flight navigation system.
