Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discuss new joint projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan held a new round of bilateral political consultations between their foreign ministries in Tashkent on 19 August 2026, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. The talks were led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov.
The sides discussed the current status and future prospects of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations within the framework of their strategic partnership and alliance. Special attention was devoted to strengthening political dialogue and expanding bilateral interaction.
Preparations for upcoming high-level events formed a key part of the meeting, along with measures to advance trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Priority areas identified for collaboration included transport and logistics, energy, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
The participants emphasized the need to elevate practical cooperation to a higher qualitative level. Discussions focused on promoting new joint industrial projects and utilizing existing economic potential to drive further growth in bilateral trade.
The delegations also highlighted opportunities to step up cooperation in healthcare and culture, while exchanging views on pressing issues on the regional and international agendas.
