Uzbekhydroenergo and China Huaneng Group to Develop Hydropower

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Joint-stock company Uzbekhydroenergo and Chinese energy corporation China Huaneng Group have concluded a strategic partnership agreement in the field of hydropower.

The signing of the memorandum of cooperation took place during the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum. The document was exchanged by Azimjon Akhmadjanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekhydroenergo, and executives from the Chinese company.

The main task of the partnership will be the implementation of large-scale hydropower projects in the territory of Uzbekistan. The cooperation is organized in compliance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 1 May 2026 No. 163 "On urgent measures for the further development of the hydropower sector."

The document is aimed at accelerating the pace of modernization of the industry and fulfilling state tasks in this area.

Within the framework of the investment forum, the sides also held bilateral talks.

Specialists and management of the companies discussed prospects for long-term interaction, paying special attention to the integration of advanced global experience and the introduction of modern engineering developments. The involvement of China Huaneng Group's technological solutions is expected to contribute to the stable and efficient development of the entire hydropower industry of Uzbekistan.
