Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree awarding a group of outstanding workers in education and upbringing on the occasion of Teachers’ and Mentors’ Day.
A total of 109 people received state awards, including 10 honorary titles, 45 orders and 54 medals, the presidential press service said.
According to the decree, the awards were presented for contributions to developing the education and upbringing system based on international standards, introducing advanced practices and innovative teaching and digital technologies into the educational process, providing young people with modern knowledge and professions, training highly qualified specialists, and implementing investment projects in education.
The honorary title “People’s Teacher of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was awarded to Ergash Saidov, a primary school teacher at School No. 6 in Denau district, Surkhandarya region, and Azimbay Saparbaev, a mathematics teacher at School No. 36 in Amudarya district, the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Another eight people received honorary titles including Honoured Worker of Public Education, Honoured Youth Mentor, Honoured Inventor and Innovator, Honoured Sports Mentor and Honoured Cultural Worker.
They include Akhmadjon Soleev, first vice-rector of Samarkand State University, and Mirtemir Kurbonov, deputy director of the Institute of Ion-Plasma and Laser Technologies of the Academy of Sciences.
School teachers, university and technical college lecturers, researchers, coaches, heads of children’s institutions and inclusive education specialists were awarded the “For Selfless Service”, “Labour Glory”, “For a Healthy Generation” I and II class, “Friendship”, “Health” II class and “Courage” orders.
The “Friendship” Order was awarded to 12 people, including foreign nationals. They include Angela Papenburg, a member of the board of directors of German company GP Günter Papenburg AG; Matthias Klingenberg, head of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) project on reforming Uzbekistan’s vocational education system; and Fu Zengzheng, deputy secretary general of the Uzbek-Chinese Alliance for Vocational Education.
A total of 54 people received the “Healthy Lifestyle”, “Courage”, “Faithful Service”, “Builder of the Future” and “Glory” medals.
The largest group of recipients — 30 people — received the “Glory” medal. Most of them are teachers at general and specialized schools from different regions of Uzbekistan.
The award recipients also include heads of family-based children’s homes, non-state educational institutions and private preschool organizations, as well as teachers at Presidential Schools in Tashkent and Samarkand.
