Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has amended internal control rules for participants in the crypto-asset market as part of efforts to combat the legalization of proceeds from crime, terrorist financing and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
A joint resolution of the National Agency of Perspective Projects and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office was registered by the state on 28 September 2026 and will enter into force on the date of its official publication.
The amendments were made to the resolution approving the Rules of Internal Control for Combating the Legalization of Proceeds from Criminal Activity, Terrorist Financing and the Financing of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction for persons engaged in crypto-asset circulation activities.
The document provides for improvements to the procedures for establishing and operating internal control systems at crypto-asset service providers.
Some of the changes concern customer due diligence. In particular, they clarify the use of organizations’ services to verify the authenticity of personal data, as well as procedures for reporting suspicious transactions.
The document also clarifies the mechanism for monitoring the effectiveness of internal control systems and brings the terminology used into line with current legislation.
The adoption of the document is aimed at further improving measures to combat the legalization of proceeds from crime, terrorist financing and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the crypto-asset sector.
The amendments are also intended to ensure the implementation of international standards in this area and reduce the risks of crypto-service providers being used for unlawful activities.
