Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — IT Park Uzbekistan and Alibaba Group discussed expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and support for technology startups, IT Park Uzbekistan said.
The meeting between IT Park Uzbekistan Director of Strategic Development Makhliyo Muksinova and Alibaba Group International Government Affairs executive Frank Ludwin Schaefer was held as part of ICT WEEK Uzbekistan 2026.
The sides considered opportunities to expand access for Uzbek specialists and companies to Alibaba Group’s international technological expertise, as well as further cooperation in AI and cloud solutions.
One possible area of cooperation could be the launch of Alibaba Cloud educational programs on artificial intelligence for IT Park residents and specialists from Uzbekistan. The programs are expected to include technical workshops and preparation for professional certification.
The sides also discussed providing selected Uzbek startups with access to Alibaba Cloud resources for developing, testing and further improving AI-based solutions.
In addition, they considered the possibility of holding joint AI hackathons and innovation challenges involving Alibaba Cloud experts and representatives of the IT Park Uzbekistan startup ecosystem.
Such formats are expected to help develop practical AI skills, test new technology solutions and create opportunities for startups to engage with international specialists.
IT Park Uzbekistan and Alibaba Group have been cooperating since 2020. At the initial stage, the focus was on e-commerce and opportunities for Uzbek companies to enter the Chinese market.
In June 2025, talks with representatives of Alibaba Cloud and Alibaba.com covered further expansion of cooperation. In July 2026, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and digital infrastructure were additionally included in the agenda.
Alibaba Group was founded in 1999 and operates across e-commerce, cloud computing, digital media, logistics and consumer services.
The group’s digital platforms operate in more than 200 countries and regions.
Alibaba Cloud is one of the group’s key technology businesses.
