Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek doctor Hasan Kamilov helped save the life of a passenger whose condition deteriorated sharply aboard a flight from Tashkent to Seoul, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health said.
The woman was in serious condition and showed signs of shock. Kamilov provided emergency medical assistance that helped save her life, according to the ministry’s press service.
The incident occurred during the flight, when the crew asked passengers whether a medical professional was on board. Kamilov responded immediately, approached the woman and began providing emergency care.
According to the ministry, the passenger’s body temperature had dropped and her skin had turned bluish. Kamilov used emergency medical supplies he had with him, along with an oxygen mask and equipment provided by the flight attendants.
Kamilov heads a private clinic in Samarkand and is a postgraduate applicant at Tashkent State Medical University. He is currently in the Republic of Korea, where he is undertaking advanced training at Chungbuk National University.
Following the incident, Kamilov gave an interview to the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health. He said he did not regard his actions as an act of heroism, but rather as part of his professional responsibilities.
“This is not heroism, but part of our medical duty and our daily hard work,” Kamilov said.
The Ministry of Health did not provide further information about the passenger’s condition after the emergency assistance was administered.
