Uzbek Banking Supervision Committee Fines 21 Banks in June

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Banking Supervision Committee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan held seven meetings in June 2026, during which it considered 34 issues and adopted the relevant decisions.

Most of the agenda, comprising 22 issues, concerned registration and licensing. The committee registered amendments to the charters of six credit institutions, considered the issuance of three qualification certificates for auditors conducting bank audits, reviewed the registration of microfinance organizations and licensing applications from payment organizations in four cases, granted five approvals for the acquisition of equity stakes in credit institutions, and approved four nominations for members of supervisory boards, management boards of commercial banks and other key personnel.

The remaining 12 issues focused on the financial condition of credit institutions and payment organizations. The committee reviewed compliance with Central Bank directives and prudential standards, the results of inspections of banks and non-bank credit institutions, and matters related to the distribution of retained earnings.

Following its review, 23 banks received warnings of possible enforcement measures and sanctions for failing to comply with prudential standards and for not bringing their operations into line with legal requirements.

In addition, penalties were imposed on 21 banks, one microfinance organization and one payment organization for violations of legal requirements and deficiencies identified during inspections and supervisory reviews.
