Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Commercial banks in Uzbekistan issued UZS 18.3 trillion in mortgage loans for home purchases to nearly 59,200 citizens in January-August 2026, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported. This was UZS 4.9 trillion more than in the same period last year.
Average interest rates on mortgage loans issued, depending on the source of financing, ranged from 16.9% to 21.6%.
Some 74% of mortgage loans, or UZS 13.6 trillion, were directed to the primary housing market, covering 43,757 borrowers.
The secondary housing market accounted for 26% of loans, or UZS 4.7 trillion, involving 15,422 borrowers.
Men accounted for 53% of borrowers and women for 47%. By age group, the largest share — 64%, or 37,980 people — consisted of citizens aged 31–50. The 18–30 age group accounted for 26%, or 15,224 people, while 10%, or 5,975 borrowers, were aged 51 and above.
By region, the largest volume of mortgage lending was recorded in Tashkent at UZS 5.592 trillion, followed by Andijan region at UZS 1.591 trillion and Ferghana region at UZS 1.264 trillion.
Among banks, Halk Bank led by lending volume with UZS 2.845 trillion, followed by Agrobank with UZS 2.771 trillion, National Bank with UZS 2.212 trillion and Ipoteka-bank with UZS 2.167 trillion.
Over the past five years, the volume of mortgage loans issued has nearly doubled, rising from UZS 9.8 trillion in 2021 to UZS 21.2 trillion at the end of 2025.
