Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has received official recognition from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for the preparation of its updated national climate plan.

The country’s National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change received a letter from UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell expressing appreciation for the submission of the third Nationally Determined Contribution.

The document, known as NDC 3.0, was developed and formally presented by Uzbekistan under the Paris Agreement at the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) held in November 2025 in Belém, Brazil.

Under its commitments, and taking into account national conditions and capacities, Uzbekistan plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions intensity per unit of gross domestic product by 50 percent by 2035 compared to 2010 levels.

The letter notes that the updated contribution reflects increased climate ambition on the part of Uzbekistan.

It also highlights the broad sectoral coverage of the plan, its orientation toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2055, and its alignment with the outcomes of the global stocktake process.

Separately, it is noted that decisions adopted at COP30 in Belém strengthen international efforts to reduce emissions and enhance adaptation to climate change.

The UNFCCC Secretariat confirmed its readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to Uzbekistan in achieving its stated climate goals.

The National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change reaffirmed its commitment to continued cooperation with international partners to implement climate policies aimed at sustainable development, emissions reduction, and strengthening the country’s resilience to climate change.
