Prosecutors Open Case Over Tashkent New Port Construction
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Prosecutors have opened a criminal case following violations identified in the construction of the New Port residential complex in the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the capital's prosecutor's office.
The investigation was prompted by a video published on social media on 2 August 2026, which alleged that residents of building No. 19 on Abdulla Kahhar Street in the Damaryk mahalla had not received compensation in full, and that the building was being illegally demolished.
According to the prosecutor's office, a pre-investigation check established that officials from Mega Logistics Servise LLC arbitrarily demolished the residential building even though enforcement proceedings for the compulsory relocation of its residents had not yet been completed.
In addition, the inspection revealed that five structures were being built on the territory without the necessary permits: one 20-story, two 19-story, one 12-story, and one two-story residential building.
Following the review, a criminal case was opened against officials from Mega Logistics Servise LLC and other individuals. The prosecutor's office stated that the investigation is under special supervision and that a legal procedural decision will be taken based on its results.
