Uzbekistan Passes Bill Banning Illegal Use of Uniforms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has passed in its second reading a draft law aimed at preventing cases of unauthorized wearing of official uniforms of state bodies.

The document provides for amendments to the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

The proposed amendments establish administrative liability for wearing or manufacturing uniforms that are confusingly similar to approved military or departmental uniforms of state bodies, or that contain characteristic distinctive marks or insignia.

As noted during the session, the new norms are intended to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and to strengthen public trust in state bodies.

During preparations for the second reading, the provisions of the bill were reviewed in detail with the participation of the relevant committee, deputies, and specialists from ministries and departments. Following discussions, the text of the document was finalized taking into account submitted proposals.

According to the developers, adoption of the law will streamline issues related to the use of official uniforms, prevent their illegal wearing or manufacture, and ensure the inevitability of liability for such offenses.

Following an extended debate, deputies passed the draft law in the second reading.
