Uzbekistan Approves Draft Law on Presidential Administration

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has approved in the first reading a draft Constitutional Law "On the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan." The document defines the legal status, primary tasks, operational guidelines, and powers of the Presidential Administration.

As noted during the session, the draft law was developed to implement provisions of the updated Constitution, which stipulates that the legal status, primary tasks, operational procedures, and authority of the Presidential Administration must be established by law.

Under the draft bill, the Presidential Administration is formed by the head of state, while its head is appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The document establishes the Administration's status, core principles of activity, structure, and operational organization, as well as mechanisms for interaction with state bodies and organizations. In addition, the draft law defines performance guarantees for the leadership, officials, and staff of the Administration.

Specific provisions of the draft focus on interaction between the Presidential Administration and compliance control and internal anti-corruption units across state bodies and organizations.

According to the developers, adopting the Constitutional Law will refine legal mechanisms for organizational, legal, and analytical support of presidential activities, strengthen interaction among state bodies, and increase the efficiency of public administration.

Following deliberations, deputies of the Legislative Chamber passed the draft Constitutional Law in the first reading.
