Proposal Proposes Terminating Teachers Without B2 Language Certificate

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers has been submitted for public discussion in Uzbekistan, proposing amendments to Government Resolution No. 312 of May 19, 2021, "On the Effective Organization of Measures to Popularize the Study of Foreign Languages."

According to the draft, the ninth paragraph of Resolution No. 312 is proposed to be supplemented with a new sixth sub-paragraph establishing the following rule: employment contracts signed with workers who do not possess the required certificate will be terminated in accordance with the procedure established by labor legislation. Under this change, the current sixth sub-paragraph will become the seventh.

The document specifies that this requirement applies to foreign language teachers, who are required to hold a B2 level national certificate or an equivalent international certificate. Under the proposed measure, the absence of such certification will serve as grounds for terminating an employment contract.

The draft resolution has been posted for public review on the Regulation.gov.uz portal, with the deadline for submitting comments and proposals set for August 12.

It is noted that the document is currently a draft proposal and has not yet entered into legal force.
