First Residents Could Move to New Tashkent in 2027

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The first residents could begin moving into residential buildings in New Tashkent as early as 2027, according to Saidazim Sharipov, advisor to the director of the New Tashkent Directorate, in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 television channel.

A total of 20,000 hectares has been allocated for the development of New Tashkent, with 6,000 hectares being developed during the first phase. Construction began in 2024, and work over the past two years has covered most of the first-phase territory.

Initial efforts focused primarily on laying underground utility infrastructure. The first physical structures are now in their final stages of construction.

Specifically, construction is nearing completion on the campuses of New Uzbekistan University and the Nizami National Pedagogical University, as well as the new building for the National Library of Uzbekistan.

Sharipov noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev regularly visits the construction site and pays special attention to ensuring that future buildings are convenient for occupants.

In parallel, work is progressing rapidly on a new stadium scheduled to host matches for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. According to Sharipov, stadium construction is also slated for completion next year.
