Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to build a modern 800-bed multidisciplinary hospital in Ferghana Region under a public-private partnership. The Fergana Hospital project will be implemented with the participation of Saudi Arabia’s Vision International Investment Company, with total investment expected to reach about US$300 million.
The project was presented with the participation of Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev and a Saudi delegation led by Health Minister Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel.
Under the agreement reached, the project will cover the design, financing, construction, equipment and long-term technical maintenance of the hospital in line with international standards. Construction is expected to take 36 months.
The new medical complex will bring together five specialised medical institutions in Ferghana Region. This will expand access to high-tech tertiary healthcare for residents of the region and surrounding areas.
The hospital will develop such areas as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, organ transplantation, nephrology and orthopaedics.
The complex will also include intensive care and emergency medical departments with a total of 160 beds, as well as the necessary supporting clinical services.
Fergana Hospital is expected to become one of the largest healthcare facilities in Central Asia implemented through a public-private partnership.
During the presentation, representatives of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia discussed further prospects for implementing the project.
