Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan Sign Prosecutors Cooperation Program

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, Nigmatilla Yuldashev, is on a working visit to Azerbaijan, where he signed a cooperation program for 2027–2028 between the prosecutor general's offices of the two countries following talks with Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation visited the Alley of Honor in Baku, laying a wreath at the grave of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev, and paid tribute to the memory of academician Zarifa Aliyeva, statesman Aziz Aliyev, and professor Tamerlan Aliyev. The delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs, laying flowers at the graves of those who died for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The main talks took place in an expanded format with the participation of both prosecutors general. The parties noted the dynamic development of friendly, strategic partnership, and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, emphasizing that the high level of mutual trust and political will of the presidents of both states create conditions for further strengthening cooperation between law enforcement agencies.

Kamran Aliyev stated that centuries-old ties between the peoples of the two countries contribute to the development of interstate cooperation, while interaction between prosecutorial authorities is important for improving the efficiency of criminal proceedings, ensuring the rule of law, and countering transnational crime.

During the meeting, participants noted the significance of the September 2025 visit of the delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan and its participation in the 6th Meeting of Prosecutors General of the Member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization and the 4th Meeting of Prosecutors General of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States.

The negotiations covered prospects for expanding cooperation in mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition, identification, seizure, and confiscation of proceeds of crime, as well as combating transnational organized crime, corruption, cybercrime, terrorism financing, human trafficking, and other modern types of crime. Special attention was paid to the implementation of digital technologies, professional development of prosecutor's office staff, and the exchange of professional experience.

The signed Cooperation Program for 2027–2028 provides for the further development of institutional interaction, expanding mutual visits, conducting joint training events, exchanging experts, and coordinating activities within international organizations.

Nigmatilla Yuldashev thanked the Azerbaijani side for the reception and emphasized that the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan attaches great importance to developing a partnership with the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan based on mutual trust.

During the visit, Nigmatilla Yuldashev was awarded the jubilee medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan "100th Anniversary of the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan (1918–2018)" in recognition of his contribution to developing cooperation between the prosecution services of the two states.

Concluding the program in Baku, the Uzbek delegation visited the History Museum of the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, where they learned about the department's history, stages of development, implemented reforms, and modern fields of activity.
