Traffic Police Officer Killed in Road Accident in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A traffic police officer was killed in a road accident in Tashkent's Mirzo-Ulugbek district on 16 July, Uzbekistan's Road Safety Service under the Public Security Department of the Interior Ministry said.

According to the ministry, at around 6:30 p.m., three traffic police inspectors were riding patrol motorcycles along Durmon Yuli Street when a Chevrolet Onix entered the intersection with Gazalkent Street, resulting in a collision.

One of the officers, who was riding a patrol motorcycle, died at the scene from his injuries. The other injured individuals are receiving medical treatment.

The Interior Ministry also denied reports circulating on social media claiming that the accident occurred while the officers were escorting a motorcade. The ministry said those reports were false and urged the public not to spread unverified information.

A pre-investigation inquiry and the necessary procedural measures are currently underway to establish the circumstances of the accident.
