Inson Social Worker Killed During Hashar in Ferghana Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A staff member of the regional Inson social services center, T. Zhuraev, died during a public cleanup drive (hashar) in the Uchkuprik district of the Ferghana region, the Social Protection Agency reported.

According to the agency, on 29 July 2026, the khokimiyat of the Uchkuprik district involved representatives of the so-called "makhalla seven" in the cleanup work. During the activities, a blade broke off a brush cutter used by hired laborers.

The flying fragment struck the abdominal area of T. Zhuraev, who was observing the progress of the work at that moment. He died from his injuries.

The Social Protection Agency expressed condolences to the family, relatives, and close friends of the deceased, emphasizing that his family will remain under the constant attention of the agency and will receive necessary social support.

The agency also reported that a comprehensive investigation is underway to review compliance with occupational safety requirements, as well as the circumstances surrounding the involvement of employees in work outside their job duties.

Following the investigation, a legal assessment of the actions of responsible officials will be conducted, and appropriate measures will be taken if necessary.
