Astana Hosts Talks on Preparations for Central Asia – Korea Summit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Astana hosted the third Senior Officials' Meeting in preparation for the upcoming summit of the heads of state of Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, Dunyo Information Agency reported, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The meeting was attended by deputy foreign ministers of the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan in Astana. The delegation of Uzbekistan was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mirvokhid Azimov.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on approaches to the substantive content of the upcoming summit's program and agenda.
Participants also reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries, reaffirming mutual interest in further developing partnership in priority areas of common interest.
On the sidelines of the event, Mirvokhid Azimov held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Chung Eui-hae.
The sides exchanged views on topical issues of Uzbek-South Korean cooperation, discussed the schedule of upcoming top-level and high-level events, as well as promising areas for the further development of bilateral relations.
