Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover climbed to US$41 billion in H1 2026, up 7.4% — but behind that growth is a warning sign: imports jumped 21% to US$25.1B while exports fell 8.8% to US$15.9B.
The trade deficit nearly tripled year-on-year, from US$3.4B to US$9.3B. The main driver of the export drop was a 4x collapse in non-monetary gold shipments — excluding gold, the rest of Uzbekistan's exports actually grew a striking 28.7%.
China and Russia alone supply half the country's imports, while service exports (mostly tourism) topped $6B for the first time. Full breakdown by product, country, and service — in the infographic.
