Uzbekistan's Average Monthly Salary Rises to 7.1 Million Soums — Statistics

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The average monthly nominal accrued salary in Uzbekistan reached 7,091.1 thousand soums in January–June 2026, up 18.4% from the same period a year earlier, the National Statistics Committee said.

The indicator has risen for the fifth consecutive year, increasing from 3,551.6 thousand soums in 2022 to 4,337.6 thousand soums in 2023, 5,106.0 thousand soums in 2024, 5,990.1 thousand soums in 2025 and 7,091.1 thousand soums in 2026.

By region

Tashkent recorded the country's highest average salary at 12,013.9 thousand soums, more than twice the national average and up 18.2% year on year. Navoi region ranked second with 8,722.7 thousand soums, up 16.4%, followed by Tashkent region with 6,675.7 thousand soums, an increase of 17.8%.

The remaining regions recorded the following average salaries: Andijan region, 5,683.6 thousand soums (115.1% of the previous year's level, the slowest growth rate nationwide); Syrdarya region, 5,604.9 thousand soums (116.8%); Bukhara region, 5,618.2 thousand soums (116.9%); Karakalpakstan, 5,556.6 thousand soums (116.2%); Khorezm region, 5,499.8 thousand soums (116.3%); Jizzakh region, 5,399.4 thousand soums (120.4%, the fastest growth rate nationwide); Samarkand region, 5,192.7 thousand soums (117.0%); Namangan region, 5,190.7 thousand soums (119.4%); Ferghana region, 5,163.5 thousand soums (116.0%); Surkhandarya region, 4,937.3 thousand soums (115.8%); and Kashkadarya region, 4,864.7 thousand soums (117.2%), the country's lowest average salary.

The gap between the highest-paid region, Tashkent, and the lowest-paid region, Kashkadarya, exceeded 2.5 times.

By economic activity

The highest salaries were paid in banking, insurance, leasing and credit intermediation, averaging 19,100.2 thousand soums, up 17.5% year on year. The information and communications sector followed with 17,417.4 thousand soums, up 15.3%, while transport and storage ranked third with 11,070.0 thousand soums, recording the fastest annual growth among all sectors at 22.8%.

Average salaries in industry reached 8,267.0 thousand soums, up 15.4%; trade, 7,650.5 thousand soums, up 13.1%; construction, 7,027.9 thousand soums, up 19.9%; arts, entertainment and recreation, 5,858.1 thousand soums, up 16.2%; and accommodation and food services, 5,189.6 thousand soums, up 11.2%, the slowest annual increase among all sectors.

Education recorded an average salary of 4,977.1 thousand soums, up 20.3%, while healthcare and social services averaged 4,440.3 thousand soums, up 20.1%. These sectors recorded the lowest absolute wage levels but among the highest annual growth rates.

Sector breakdown

Within banking, insurance and finance, insurance and reinsurance activities, excluding compulsory social insurance, recorded average salaries of 26,013.9 thousand soums. Financial service activities and supporting insurance services averaged 24,895.9 thousand soums, while other financial services excluding insurance and pension funding averaged 18,431.6 thousand soums.

In information and communications, computer programming, consultancy and related activities recorded average salaries of 22,234.7 thousand soums, information service activities averaged 21,410.3 thousand soums, and telecommunications averaged 12,970.4 thousand soums. The IT sector remained among the highest-paying sectors of the economy, significantly ahead of traditional telecommunications.

In transport and storage, warehousing and transport support activities averaged 12,314.4 thousand soums, land transport and pipeline transport 9,521.2 thousand soums, while postal and courier services averaged only 4,587.1 thousand soums, nearly three times lower than warehousing and logistics.

Within industry, mining and quarrying recorded average salaries of 11,709.5 thousand soums, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply 10,191.3 thousand soums, manufacturing 7,867.3 thousand soums, and water supply and waste management 5,313.4 thousand soums.

In trade, wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles averaged 10,754.3 thousand soums, wholesale trade excluding motor vehicles 8,172.8 thousand soums, and retail trade excluding motor vehicles 6,922.3 thousand soums.

In education, higher education recorded average salaries of 12,047.1 thousand soums, technical and vocational education 5,372.2 thousand soums, general secondary education 4,669.4 thousand soums, and pre-school education 2,720.9 thousand soums. The gap between higher education lecturers and pre-school teachers reached 4.4 times.

Five-year trend

Since 2022, the largest absolute salary increases have been recorded in banking and finance, up 9,831.5 thousand soums, and information and communications, up 10,533.4 thousand soums. These were followed by transport and storage, up 6,439.6 thousand soums; trade, up 4,078.3 thousand soums; industry, up 3,717.4 thousand soums; arts and entertainment, up 2,936.4 thousand soums; construction, up 2,755.7 thousand soums; accommodation and food services, up 2,389.2 thousand soums; education, up 2,388.1 thousand soums; and healthcare, up 2,066.5 thousand soums, the smallest absolute increase among all sectors.

The gap between the highest-paying sectors, finance and information technology, and the social sectors of education and healthcare has continued to widen in absolute terms, despite education and healthcare recording some of the strongest annual wage growth rates over the past year.

Methodology

The data are based on electronic reporting submitted by enterprises and organizations, excluding small businesses, microenterprises and agricultural enterprises. Statistics covering all economic entities, including small businesses and farms, are published separately once a year. The average nominal accrued salary is calculated by dividing the total accrued wage fund by the average number of employees during the reporting month, in accordance with the methodological guidelines of the National Statistics Committee dated 30 May 2025.
