Japan deports two Uzbek nationals for immigration violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Embassy of Japan in Tashkent said Japan's Immigration Services Agency has deported two Uzbek nationals who were staying in the country illegally.

According to the embassy, both individuals entered Japan on short-term visas but remained in the country after their visas had expired. They were later detained by the Japanese authorities and deported at the expense of the Japanese government.

The embassy reminded citizens that those found to be staying or working illegally in Japan face strict measures, including arrest by police, placement in an immigration detention centre and subsequent deportation.

It also noted that the Japanese authorities provide information about immigration offenders to the government of Uzbekistan. As a result, appropriate measures may also be taken against them after they return home.

The diplomatic mission urged citizens to treat offers of illegal employment with caution and not to trust promises of unauthorized work opportunities in Japan.

The embassy also stressed that applying for refugee status cannot be used as a means of obtaining long-term residence or the right to work.

If an application is rejected, the applicant may be placed in an immigration detention centre or deported. Providing false information or using fraudulent methods when submitting an application may also result in serious legal consequences.
