Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Main Department of Economy and Finance of the Tashkent region has discussed the drafting of a territorial development strategy for the region covering the next 15 years, the Tashkent region administration's press service said.

The meeting between First Deputy Regional Governor O. Tursunov and representatives of British international project and consulting company ARUP was held as part of the Integrated Development of Medium Cities project, implemented jointly with the World Bank, the press service said.

The project is being carried out in accordance with Presidential Decree No. PP–298 of 8 October 2025. During the meeting, the two sides examined the region's long-term development prospects, the economic potential of individual territories, population settlement and urbanisation processes.

Particular attention was given to the efficient use of land resources, the development of transport and engineering infrastructure, ensuring environmental sustainability and opportunities for locating major investment projects.

Participants also discussed urban planning issues for the cities of Yangiyul and Chirchiq and the Bekabad and Chinaz districts. Priority areas for drafting master plans for 20 selected territories in these districts were also considered.

As part of the discussions, the two sides put forward proposals on making more efficient use of the territories' potential, developing infrastructure in line with modern requirements, attracting new investment projects and creating a comfortable environment for the population.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue joint work on identifying strategic directions for the development of the Tashkent region over the next 15 years, forming priority infrastructure and investment projects and implementing them in stages.
