Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians opened in Samarkand on 4 September 2026, organized under the initiative of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. The international event gathers representatives from various countries, young parliamentarians, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Oqtam Salomov, and leaders of several higher education institutions.

At the start of the event, a welcoming address from President Mirziyoyev was read to the participants. Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva then delivered opening remarks and officially opened the conference.

The conference program features open dialogues and discussions on key issues affecting young people and their involvement in socio-political life. Participants are addressing youth rights in the digital world, decent work, expansion of economic opportunities, climate change, and the role of young people in political processes.

To facilitate international communication, 168 young volunteer translators have been recruited for the conference. The group includes master's and undergraduate students from the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, who are assisting with participant communication, accompanying foreign guests, and supporting event organization.

The 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will continue its work through 6 September 2026, with delegates considering ways to expand opportunities for youth and enhance their participation in decision-making at the international level.
