Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A month of French culture will be held in Bukhara from Saturday, 2 October, to 31 October 2026, during which the city will host a series of exhibitions, concerts, dance performances and film screenings, the French Embassy in Uzbekistan said.
The organisers noted that throughout October the Uzbek public will be offered the chance to become acquainted with France's cultural heritage in Bukhara, a city described as a pearl on the Silk Road.
The programme covers painting, music, dance, cinema and conferences. All events will be open to everyone, with free admission.
The festival's opening will take place on 3 and 4 October, when exhibitions and open-air performances will be held at several venues in the city, from the Poi-Kalon ensemble to the Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa palace, including the Ark citadel.
According to the opening programme, on 3 October at 15:00 an exhibition titled "Landscapes of Provence" by artist Diana Khamzina will open at Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa. At 17:30, the Beau Geste dance group will perform at the Ark citadel.
In the evening, at 19:00, a concert by Christine Fontrulp will be held at the Poi-Kalon ensemble.
The rest of the month's programme includes a series of conferences devoted to cultural heritage, to be held from 5 to 9 October, and a French film festival from 13 to 17 October.
The month of French culture will conclude with a final French-Uzbek concert. In addition, continuous interactive events will take place around the city throughout the period.
The organisers said the detailed programme of the month of French culture would be published later.
