Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A Russian-Uzbek film forum is planned to take place in Uzbekistan in 2027.
Russian Deputy Culture Minister Andrey Malyshev told TASS on the sidelines of a meeting of the CIS Council for Cultural Cooperation in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
According to Malyshev, the forum is being organised on the instructions of Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova, who previously proposed the initiative.
The deputy minister explained that the event would give Russian filmmakers an opportunity to explore potential filming locations in Uzbekistan, hold casting sessions and establish contacts with local producers.
Participants will also be able to discuss opportunities for joint financing of film projects.
On 5 October, Lyubimova met with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
During the talks, the Russian side proposed organising a Russian-Uzbek film forum.
