Tashkent Metro's Elevated Line to Operate on Reduced Schedule

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Tashkent Metro will operate its elevated Circle Line on a reduced schedule from 17 to 19 July, with trains running from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., the metro's press service said.

During this period, specialists will carry out a comprehensive structural and technical inspection of all 14 stations on the elevated line.

According to the metro operator, the preventive inspections are intended to ensure the reliable operation of the infrastructure, assess its current condition and further improve passenger safety and comfort.

Passengers have been advised to take the temporary timetable changes into account when planning their journeys. The metro operator also apologised for the inconvenience.

The inspections were ordered following an incident at Turon station on 16 July, when decorative ceiling panels partially collapsed onto the passenger platform.

According to the state-owned operator Toshkent Metropoliteni, the incident occurred at 2:34 p.m. Two passengers sustained minor injuries and received first aid at the scene.

Technical specialists continue to examine the station's structures while the causes of the incident remain under investigation.
