Uzbek Energy Complaints Fall 26.1% in First Half of 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on citizens' complaints related to Uzbekistan's fuel and energy sector and on measures to address identified problems as part of preparations for the autumn-winter season.

According to the report, 39,220 complaints related to the fuel and energy sector were received during the first half of 2026. This was 13,820 fewer complaints, or 26.1%, than in the same period a year earlier.

Half of the complaints concerned the supply of natural gas and liquefied gas, while another 38.3% were related to electricity supply.

The most common issues raised by citizens included the timely refilling of liquefied gas cylinders, power outages, the construction and repair of electricity networks, and insufficient natural gas pressure.

Despite the decline in complaints, the president said each complaint should be treated as an indication of systemic problems in a particular area, sector or public utility service.

Ahead of the autumn-winter season, officials were instructed to analyze the situation in mahallas and at facilities with the highest number of repeated complaints, inspect the technical condition of electricity and gas networks, and prepare targeted plans to address identified shortcomings in each region.

Priority is to be given to repairing electricity networks and transformer substations in areas most frequently affected by power outages, improving the readiness of emergency response teams, and ensuring stable gas supplies to settlements experiencing low natural gas pressure.

Officials were also instructed to ensure strict compliance with schedules for filling and delivering liquefied gas cylinders to households and to deploy additional resources in areas with increased demand.

Mirziyoyev said all systemic problems identified through citizens' complaints must be resolved before the start of the autumn-winter season. He instructed local authorities, mahalla committees and public utility organizations to work closely together to complete preparations of energy infrastructure and ensure stable supplies of natural gas, liquefied gas and other types of fuel to households and social facilities.
