Embraer Reports Record US$32.1 Billion Order Backlog

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has reached a record order backlog and expects to become a company generating more than US$10 billion in annual revenue by 2030 or earlier.

The announcement was made by Embraer President and Chief Executive Officer Francisco Gomes Neto during the IATA Embraer Experience Day, held on 8–9 June at the company's headquarters in São José dos Campos, São Paulo state, as part of the annual IATA meeting programme in Rio de Janeiro.

At the end of the first quarter of 2026, Embraer's firm order backlog reached a record US$32.1 billion. The figure does not include several recently announced deals. Including options and purchase rights, the backlog totals US$52 billion.

The company reported record results across all business divisions. At the end of 2025, the commercial aviation backlog stood at about US$14.5 billion, representing approximately five years of production. Business aviation accounted for US$7.6 billion, defence for US$4.4 billion, and services and support for US$5.1 billion.

In 2026, Embraer plans to deliver 255 aircraft, including 80–85 commercial aircraft and 160–170 business jets. The company expects an EBIT margin of 8.7% to 9.3% and free cash flow exceeding US$200 million.

Since 2022, Embraer has increased annual revenue by about US$1 billion each year after revenue fell to US$3.8 billion during the 2020 crisis. The growth has been supported in part by a programme to shorten production cycles. Assembly time for the KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft has been reduced from 17 months in 2021 to 8.5 months.

The head of Embraer Commercial Aviation, Arjan Meijer, described 2025 as one of the division's most successful years. The company delivered 78 aircraft, generated US$7.4 billion in sales and captured 76% of its market segment while competing with the Airbus A220.

The E2 family has surpassed 500 firm orders. Since 2024, the programme has received 397 orders, options and purchase rights.

The programme now includes 24 customers, with 202 aircraft delivered. The fleet has accumulated more than 1.25 million flight hours since entering service in 2018. According to Meijer, the E2 fleet's 99.5% dispatch reliability is the best in its class. First-generation aircraft also continue to perform strongly. The E175 alone has accumulated 17.9 million flight hours, while nearly 1,000 E-Jets are in service in the United States.

Meijer also said that operational disruptions involving Pratt & Whitney GTF engines have been largely resolved. While 22% of the E2 fleet was grounded in March 2025, only one or two aircraft remained on the ground by June 2026.

New E2 customers include Virgin Australia, Japan's ANA, Scandinavian airline SAS, South Africa's Airlink and leasing company Azorra, which placed an additional order for 15 aircraft in June.

In March 2026, Finnair signed a contract for up to 46 E195-E2 aircraft, comprising 18 firm orders, 16 options and 12 purchase rights, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027. U.S.-based Avelo Airlines became the first E2 customer in the United States after ordering 50 aircraft with rights to purchase another 50.

Embraer is completing certification of its Embraer Enhanced Take-off System (E2TS), designed to improve take-off performance, payload and range of E2 aircraft. The system is expected to enter the market in 2027.

The company is also advancing its programme to convert E190 passenger aircraft into freighters. The first aircraft converted in Brazil has already entered service.

Embraer identified India as a strategic market. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding that provides for the possibility of establishing aircraft assembly operations in the country for the domestic market, where it sees strong potential for regional aviation.

Embraer operates four business divisions: commercial aviation, business aviation, defence and security, and services and support. Its subsidiary Eve is developing an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi, with serial production planned for 2028–2029 and annual revenue potential of US$1 billion to US$1.5 billion once full-scale production is reached.

The company employs more than 23,000 people. Since its establishment in 1969, Embraer has delivered more than 9,000 aircraft to over 2,000 customers, including more than 60 countries and armed forces. Over the past 25 years, the company has certified 20 new aircraft types. Its engineering workforce includes more than 4,000 specialists, of whom 1,400 hold academic degrees, and the company owns more than 900 patents. Manufacturing facilities are located in Brazil, the United States (Melbourne and Jacksonville, Florida) and Portugal. Its global commercial aviation centre is based in Amsterdam, with offices in Dubai, India, Singapore and China.
