Statue of Uzbek poet unveiled in Baku

The statue was sculpted in Uzbekistan, but its plinth was prepared in Azerbaijan. Nine tons of bronze were used in sculpting the statue and the plinth was prepared from marble.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, who will visit Azerbaijan on 11 September, is expected to attend the statue’s opening ceremony.
