Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Railway authorities from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye have agreed on further measures to develop the international multimodal CASCA+ route.
A six-party protocol was signed following a meeting of the heads of the railway administrations held in Tashkent on 7–8 October.
Participants discussed expanding freight transportation between Asia and Europe, improving the route’s competitiveness and making more effective use of the transit potential of the participating countries.
The meeting also aimed to strengthen cooperation in transport and logistics.
One of the key topics was increasing freight volumes along the CASCA+ route.
The parties considered introducing competitive rates for transporting goods in refrigerated containers, as well as ensuring the regular provision of flat wagons for container transport along the entire route.
Particular attention was paid to reducing container dwell times at ports, which is important for improving the efficiency of international freight transportation.
The signed protocol formalises the agreements reached and identifies priority areas for further cooperation among the railway administrations of the six countries.
The participants view the development of CASCA+ as a way to strengthen transport and logistics links between Asia and Europe and expand opportunities to use the transit potential of the countries along the route.
