Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has concluded a working visit to Turkmenistan and returned to Tashkent.
During the visit on 8–9 October, the president attended Central Asian and CIS summits, held bilateral talks and outlined Uzbekistan’s priorities for its 2027 chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
On 8 October, Mirziyoyev took part in the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan at the Awaza National Tourist Zone.
He proposed expanding industrial cooperation, improving transport connectivity and developing new technologies, as well as stepping up joint efforts on energy, water resources and environmental issues.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of a joint statement and the signing of multilateral documents.
On the sidelines of the summit, Mirziyoyev held talks with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. One of the key outcomes was the signing of a treaty establishing a Supreme Council of Strategic Partnership.
Mirziyoyev also met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and joined the heads of delegations from CIS countries at a national food festival.
On 9 October, the Uzbek president attended a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. In his address, he outlined proposals to expand trade and industrial cooperation, develop transport links, strengthen food and energy security, and combat cybercrime.
At the expanded session of the summit, Mirziyoyev presented Uzbekistan’s priorities for its upcoming CIS chairmanship in 2027. A package of documents was signed following the meeting.
After the events concluded, Mirziyoyev was seen off at Turkmenbashi International Airport by Batyr Annayev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, and other officials.
The Uzbek president then departed for Tashkent.
