Senate approves accession to Geneva Act of Lisbon Agreement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the Law "On the Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications" during its seventeenth plenary session.
During the discussion, senators noted that acceding to this international document will expand Uzbekistan's capabilities regarding the international legal protection of intellectual property objects, particularly geographical indications and appellations of origin for goods.
According to the session participants, the implementation of the law will help increase the competitiveness of domestic products and promote them more effectively on global markets.
It was also emphasized that the document aims to further improve the investment and business climate, develop regional brands, strengthen the country's export potential, and form a positive international image for Uzbekistan.
Senators noted that the adoption of the law will make it possible to improve the mechanisms for the international protection of national intellectual property objects, support the interests of domestic manufacturers, and increase competitiveness.
