The State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan is working on a number of measures to develop domestic tourism along with attracting foreign tourists. As a new initiative, the Committee began work on a new project in conjunction with the UTA MEDIA Group advertising agency.

The construction of a large-scale tourist and recreational complex on the territory of the rowing canal has begun in Samarkand region. The official start ceremony of the construction took place on 18 September.
