Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Ferghana Region Hokim Khairullo Bozorov held a meeting in Uchkuprik district with a delegation led by Chinese investor Wang Zhaoliang to discuss new investment projects in the region, the press service of the Ferghana Region Hokimiyat said.
The meeting focused on initiatives aimed at import substitution and the production of higher value-added goods.
The meeting noted that conditions created in Uzbekistan for foreign investors, including in Ferghana Region, are increasing the interest of Chinese businesses in launching new manufacturing projects.
In particular, the Chinese side presented proposals to establish production of copper products.
Khairullo Bozorov said the regional authorities were ready to provide comprehensive support to promising initiatives if they were based on specific plans and economic calculations.
The parties also highlighted the projects’ focus on creating new jobs and reducing dependence on imports.
Following the meeting, the sides identified further areas of cooperation and agreed to continue work on implementing the proposed projects.
