Samarkand Hosts Regional Aviation Security Talks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Samarkand hosted the 4th meeting of the Aviation Security Coordination Group of Central Asia and the Caucasus on 9–10 April 2026. The event was chaired by the Uzaviatsiya Agency with the participation of Uzbekistan Airports.
The meeting brought together representatives of aviation authorities from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.
The session served as a platform to discuss key challenges in aviation security amid the growth of international air traffic and increasing requirements for the protection of civil aviation.
Participants reviewed issues related to audits conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the adoption of modern technologies including artificial intelligence-based solutions, as well as improvements in screening procedures and supply chain security.
Special attention was given to countering acts of unlawful interference, exchanging information on threats and incidents, and strengthening interstate cooperation.
Following the meeting, the leadership of the Coordination Group was updated.
Georgia assumed the chairmanship for 2026, while Uzbekistan was elected as deputy chair.
Participants emphasized that expanding regional cooperation and implementing international best practices remain key conditions for the sustainable functioning of the aviation sector.
