Safaev: Economic takeoff cannot be achieved without democratization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Economic takeoff cannot be achieved without democratization, the chairperson of the Committee of Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on foreign political issues Sadyk Safaev said.

“We will not achieve economic upsurge, if the political matrix is not moved. If the laws, which support entrepreneurship, are not adopted, if the human rights are guaranteed, if the favourable conditions created for investors. Thus, Economic takeoff cannot be achieved without democratization,” he said.

“Political modernization starts from sustainable power-sharing, creating a system of checks and balances between the three branches of government. Without this it is impossible to talk about modern society,” Safaev said.
