Heatwave Leaves Parts of Tashkent Without Electricity
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Parts of Tashkent and Tashkent Region were temporarily left without electricity after technical faults occurred on several transmission lines and substations amid extreme heat and a sharp increase in demand for electricity, Uzbekistan's Energy Ministry said.
According to the ministry, as of 2:30 p.m., electricity supply had been temporarily disrupted for 8,250 consumers in the Almazar, Yakkasaray, Chilanzar, Yunusabad, Yashnabad, Mirzo-Ulugbek and Sergeli districts of Tashkent, as well as Zangiota District in Tashkent Region.
The ministry said emergency repair teams are working to eliminate the faults and restore electricity supplies as quickly as possible.
Energy officials apologised to consumers for the temporary inconvenience.
The ministry also reminded residents that information on both planned and emergency power outages is published through the official Telegram groups of district electricity supply companies, as well as the Telegram channels of the Tashkent city and Tashkent Region administrations.
