Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Russia’s Znanie Society plans to expand its activities in Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the organization’s Deputy Director General Georgy Budny said in a video interview with TASS.
“First of all, our goal is to revive the activities of the Znanie Society in the countries of the post-Soviet space. We are currently paying particular attention to Central Asian countries — Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Our projects are also being implemented in the Republic of Belarus,” he said.
According to Budny, residents of these countries are already familiar with the activities of Russia’s Znanie Society. He attributed the organization’s focus on Central Asia to its history, noting that it has existed since 1947.
“It operated throughout the Soviet Union and was the most powerful educational organization,” the deputy director general said.
He added that the society’s current activities resonate with older generations in the countries of the region.
According to Budny, members of these generations can participate in the organization’s projects as experts and lecturers.
