Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Starting from 1 December 2024, Russia will launch an experiment to collect biometric data (facial photos and fingerprints) from foreign nationals entering and leaving the country, according to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia.

The first phase of the experiment (until 30 June 2026) will be limited to airports in Moscow and the Mashtakovo checkpoint. The second phase (from 30 June 2025, to 30 June 2026) will extend to all border crossings.

Uzbek citizens entering Russia visa-free will need to register in a unified system, upload photos and biometric data through a mobile application, and submit an electronic declaration of their purpose of entry at least 72 hours in advance (or within 4 hours in urgent cases).

Exemptions apply to Belarusian nationals, diplomats, international organization employees, holders of service passports, and children under six years old.
