Akhangaran District to Import 20,000 Bayad Sheep From Mongolia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A total of 20,000 head of breeding sheep of the Bayad breed will be delivered from Mongolia to the Akhangaran district of the Tashkent region over the course of 2026.

The corresponding agreements were reached during a working visit of an Uzbek delegation to Mongolia. The working group included the khokim of the Akhangaran district, B. Norkobilov; the head of the veterinary and livestock development department of the Tashkent region, K. Otaboev; as well as leading farmers, entrepreneurs, and sector specialists.

The primary objective of the overseas trip was to expand interregional cooperation in the field of animal husbandry, study advanced practices, and establish direct, mutually beneficial relations.

During the bilateral meetings and interdepartmental negotiations, the parties discussed in detail current issues regarding the modernization of the livestock industry, mechanisms for increasing the population of highly productive breeding livestock, and the introduction of innovative methods of farm management.

As part of the practical program of the visit, the Uzbek delegation visited major Mongolian livestock complexes, where they familiarized themselves in detail with the technological processes, the specifics of organizing breeding operations, and current veterinary systems for animal care.

The domestic specialists showed particular interest in the Bayad sheep breed, which is characterized by high productivity rates, excellent breeding qualities, and the ability to quickly adapt to the climatic conditions of Uzbekistan's regions.

The final agreement to deliver a large shipment of livestock to the Akhangaran district is intended to stimulate the domestic meat market and strengthen the region's raw material base.
