Jamshid Kuchkarov, Societe Generale Discuss Privatization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, held official talks with Aymeric Arnaud, the Regional Director for the Middle East, Turkiye, the CIS, and Africa of the major European financial conglomerate Societe Generale.

The meeting was devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the current level of interaction and the identification of strategic vectors for long-term partnership in international financial markets.

During the consultations, the parties exchanged views on Uzbekistan's key macroeconomic indicators, the dynamics of structural reform implementation, and the government's systemic measures aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth and qualitatively improving the investment climate.

A special emphasis within the discussion was placed on the progress of the state privatization program for large state-owned enterprises and commercial banks with state participation.

A separate block of the negotiations involved discussing the results of the recent initial public offering (IPO) of the UzNIF fund.

Representatives of the French financial group expressed high interest in scaling up their presence in the republic's market, confirming their readiness to take an active part in promising investment and privatization projects.

Following the meeting, the parties recorded their mutual intention to strengthen the mutually beneficial partnership, support ongoing economic transformations, and work together to attract foreign capital into the real sector of Uzbekistan's economy.
