President of Uzbekistan Concludes Working Visit to Baku

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The working visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Azerbaijan concluded after a busy schedule of events.

On November 12, the head of state delivered a speech at the plenary session of the World Leaders' Summit during the 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), where he presented key initiatives to address the impacts of climate change.

During the summit, President Mirziyoyev held a series of bilateral meetings, including with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö, the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso, the President of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) Muhammad al-Jassir, the Director-General of ICESCO Salim al-Malik, the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund Mafalda Duarte, and the Chairman of the Institute for Global Change Tony Blair.

On November 13, the second day of the visit, President Mirziyoyev participated in the signing of a trilateral agreement on strategic partnership for the development and transfer of "green" energy between Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. He also met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, after which the two heads of state launched a joint factory.

During the conference, meetings were held with the Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, and Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the CEO of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Carlos Rodriguez. The President also visited the Uzbekistan National Pavilion at COP29.

Following the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent. At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, he and his wife were seen off by the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan, Farid Ahmedov, and other officials.
